West Midlands’ Mayor reveals multi-million pound support package for businesses

There will be up to £15 million of direct grants to encourage growth and decarbonisation, as well as access to thousands of hours of free, expert, hands-on business advice from Business Growth West Midlands (BGWM).

Announcing the exciting new support package, Mayor Richard Parker said: “Our region’s economy has stagnated for too many years. When I was elected I said I wouldn’t sit back and let that continue – and I haven’t.

“I’ve backed the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of thousands of businesses to help them grow, take on more staff, and bring back life to our high streets.

“And this year we’re going even further – with another £15million of funding and more of the practical support they need to succeed. That means more opportunities for local people to get good jobs and careers that make a difference to their lives.”

£10 million in growth funding has already been provided to small and medium sized manufacturing, technology and high street businesses since Mr Parker was elected last year. And, the funds have been invested by businesses in expanding their premises, increasing their workforce and buying new hi-tech equipment.

Expert advice, funded by the Mayor, has also benefitted businesses by enabling them to win new contracts, boost turnover, attract investment and move into overseas markets.
