Starting life in 2004 in Clive Road, Pattingham, the restaurant quickly attracted the attention of discerning diners, who travelled from far and wide to get a taste of its mouth-watering menu of fine British dishes. And, as the decades rolled by the establishment continued to grow its already impressive reputation. In 2022, a new chapter began for the Cowshed, when the restaurant moved to the former Horns at Boningale site on Holyhead Road. The move provided the perfect opportunity to expand and develop the well-established business further and at the end of 2024, owners Will and Caroline – who are also mother and son – purchased the building from Marstons Brewery, making them the sole owners of both the business and the impressive building.
As Will explains: “We really love it here, the location is perfect – we’re exactly halfway between Wolverhampton and Shifnal, which makes the restaurant really accessible for our guests. Since the move we’ve invested heavily in the site and we’re busy making plans for some further exciting changes over the coming months.” The building boasts impressive original features and a stunning fireplace in the main dining room. In addition, there’s a cosy bar area and even a private dining room that can be reserved as an intimate dining experience for those special occasions. The Cowshed is best known as a restaurant but also offers a perfect country inn and dining experience, especially as Will, Caroline and their team are soon to be launching an exciting new menu for the upcoming season. Sunday lunches are ever-popular at the Cowshed, thanks to the restaurant’s unrivalled choices and there’s also the amazing evening menu that never fails to wow diners. As the warmer weather fast approaches, Will and Caroline are looking forward to making the most of their fabulous view and outdoor space, ready for the summer months.
“We’re currently developing plans to create a large, all weather outdoor area at the back of the premises, giving our guests an added experience whilst with us along with stunning views of the Patshull Estate.” There’s no doubt that the changes will only add to The Cowshed’s already undeniable appeal and enable the business to cater to the needs of all of their guest, whatever the occasion.
