The string of notable achievements comes as the school gears up for an ambitious 2025 with several landmarks, anniversaries, new projects and new chapters packing the calendar this year.
Wrekin College will celebrate the 50th anniversary of welcoming girls to the school while also marking 100 years of York House.
It will also build on its historic relationship with Old Hall School which becomes Wrekin Prep in September.
The months leading up to the end of the academic year are peppered with sporting finals, music and drama performances and whole school events with an emphasis on maximising every opportunity for pupils.
Both hockey and netball teams across the age ranges are celebrating county wins with a number now progressing to regional and national finals.
The school’s Concert and Jazz bands will be heading to Manchester in April to perform at the National Concert Band Festival finals hoping to come away with yet another prestigious national award.
This term has seen pupils busy in rehearsals and performances of A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen and putting the finishing touches to a much-anticipated Musical Theatre Showcase.
Young entrepreneurs will run a pop-up market later this term with the chance to win a session on their own stall at Wellington Indoor Market.
Headteacher Mr Toby Spence said he felt immensely proud that Wrekin had stepped up its determination to provide varied and ambitious opportunities for its pupils.
“I look ahead to 2025 and it is inspiring to see how much commitment there is among both staff and pupils to really push for their best and to believe that they can and will achieve amazing things,” he added.
“The positive drive and determination is across various disciplines and from both individual and team efforts which is exactly what we want to see. It all helps to hone various skills and invaluable outlooks from leadership and confidence to resilience and a can-do attitude.”
“We started this year like every other encouraging our pupils to recognise the potential for them to develop their interests and their talents alongside their academic results and to never miss a chance to get involved.”
“Personally I really relish seeing how they take on that challenge. It is very much in the Wrekinian spirit.”
